JWAAD Professional Performers Course at Summer School

Taught by Josephine Wise.JWAAD summer school class raphaelle masson

Do you aim to look as good as the top famous dancers?
Do you want to look completely professional on stage?
Do you feel there is no one to mentor you at a high level?
Do you need someone to help develop your unique talent?

What It Is

This is a unique course, designed to mentor and support dancers who are at the stage of having no one to take responsibility for their development, and who are serious about improving their performance skills.

It has been developed over several years at the JWAAD Summer School, and it has now been honed into a comprehensive 10-hour course. It is available now for the first time outside the Summer School.

Many top dancers from the UK and abroad have benefited from this course.

What It Includes

The course runs for 2 hours each day for 5 days, and includes opportunities to dance solo for the group and receive individual analysis of your strengths and weaknesses, what you need to work on and how to develop your unique style.

Each day we have a warmup specifically designed to hone the dancers body, including Pilates exercises and deep stretches, after which each day differs as to which areas we concentrate on from the subjects below.

Each subject is analysed and studied in depth.

It is a comprehensive course including:

Refinement of technique and body awareness
Performance skills and showmanship
Choreography and improvisation skills
Musicality and phrasing
Authenticity and expression
Costuming and presentation
Individual assessment
Ideas for further development

Times:

Course times to be confirmed soon, but it will probably be Monday 5th to Thursday 8th August from 2-4pm and Friday 9th August from 10:30-12pm as usual.

This course can be taken as a complete course or in separate parts/days. However there is some development of themes throughout the week. The numbers on the course are kept small to enable dancers to benefit from individual attention from the teacher.

If you come for 5 or 7 days you can combine the course with Intermediate and/or Advanced level dance classes taught by top JWAAD teachers, and if you are a professional teacher yourself there may be an opportunity for you to teach.

Please email summerschool@jwaad.com for further details.
