Description
Level 3/4
New drills and movements get moving by adding travelling and layering dimensions. There will also be short combinations to glue all of our experiments together, where we'll add and subtract layers to explore a range of expression. This workshop can involve level changes and moderate laybacks, but these are not compulsory.
Biography
Kimberly Mackoy has been a fixture on the London dance scene for over three years and has quickly become known for her originality and elegance as a performer. Her knowledge and technique as an instructor is unique, growing from over seven years’ experience with tribal fusion, as a student of its major innovators and a passionate dancer in her own right.
Kimberly began studying tribal fusion belly dance under Rachel Brice over seven years ago. While living in San Francisco, she was also fortunate enough to learn from Frédérique David, Jill Parker, Suhaila Salimpour and other jaw-dropping innovators in the art form. She now performs and teaches internationally, and has shared stages with the finest dancers in the genre. Her dance blends modern and ancient elements to transcend the usual boundaries around regions and moments in time. The influences are truly international, coming together in the gaze of a creative eye that integrates them into something fresh and entirely unexpected.
Kimberly is an experienced soloist, used to performing in a wide array of settings, from underground club nights to high profile festivals, gala events to exclusive cabaret evenings. She is also a founding member of Atalanta, a well-respected trio and London’s first tribal fusion troupe.
