Biography
Shema is a passionate performer who specialises in Egyptian and Oriental style Bellydance as well as Folkloric styles from across the Middle East and North Africa.
Originally from England, Shema has studied and performed Bellydance since 2001 and after running her own school in the UK for two years, moved to Toronto, Canada to develop her performance career, where she was accepted into the Arabesque Dance Company, as an Instructor in the Academy and as a violinist in the Arabesque Orchestra.
In addition to dancing, Shema is an accomplished musician, who has been playing the violin since she was eight years old. Although classically trained, Shema is now embracing Arabic music, rhythm and culture entirely and the combination of music and dance makes for a truly powerful and enigmatic show.
