To register, your personal technique must be of Intermediate 1 level or above, and you must have a technique assessment with a JWAAD Professional Training Tutor.
This Diploma has been running for almost 12 years, however we are in the process of splitting it into units, each of which is accredited. There are 4 units in total.
• 'Safe Delivery of Belly Dance Classes'
• 'Understanding Music Used within Belly Dance'
• 'The Influence of History & Culture upon Belly Dance'
• 'Teaching Methods for Belly Dance'
We recommend that you complete 'Safe Delivery of Belly Dance Classes' first. This course includes a technique assessment. Once you have successfully completed this course and had your technique assessed as Intermediate 1 level or higher, you can register for the JWAAD Teaching Diploma, and take the other three units, with the 'Teaching Methods for Belly Dance' unit last. You cannot register for 'Teaching Methods for Belly Dance' until you have completed the other three units.
It is not possible to take the 'Teaching Methods for Belly Dance' unit unless you are registered for the Teaching Diploma.
If you want to register for a unit but have not yet completed 'Safe Delivery of Belly Dance Classes', you will need to arrange for a technique assessment from a JWAAD Tutor.
In addition to these units, you will have to complete a minimum of three private lessons/technique assessments through the study period (unless you have completed these as part of the Performance Diploma).
If you are a registered Diploma student, additional workshops at Intermediate level are provided on each unit to develop your personal technique and style.
If you have passed the middle two units when studying for the Performance Diploma, you will only have to do two more units to get the Performance Diploma. Similarly, once you have the Performance Diploma, you will only have to take two units ('Safe Delivery of Belly Dance Classes' and 'Teaching Methods for Belly Dance') to get the Teaching Diploma.
We have designed these courses/units to dovetail into each other and to provide a complete training at professional level, so that dancers can work professionally with confidence and expertise.
