This is aimed at people who are already teaching or are considering teaching and want to ensure that they are doing so safely. The Foundation course gives you the safety elements of teaching and a taster of what the Diploma course will be like. The Foundation course does not qualify you as a JWAAD teacher. All the modules covering teaching skills are in the Diploma course.

The JWAAD Foundation Course is now accredited by the National Open College Network. JWAAD has been recognised as a centre to deliver NOCN qualifications.

Any JWAAD Foundation Courses run from September 2010 will be in a slightly different format, and participants will have the choice of submitting their portfolio of work for external verification and a certificate issued by the National Open College Network.

The module is now called 'Safe Delivery of Belly Dance Classes' and will be a pre-requisite to continuing to the rest of the 'JWAAD Teacher Training Course'.

It is a L3 qualification - which means the content is to 'A' level standard.

You are expected to be able to execute basic moves clearly in order to teach them, but do not have to be of a high technical level. You can opt to do the course without assessment if you are just doing it for your own learning and enjoyment. You must successfully complete all parts of the course with assessment if you need to achieve the certificate either for MADN insurance or to go on to the JWAAD Diploma course. In order to be accepted on the JWAAD Diploma course, you must have passed the Foundation course first.
